Feature Request: Enhancement for "Transposition Overrides"

The Clef and Transposition Overrides feature is very useful, but currently it has to be applied instrument by instrument.

An interesting improvement would be to allow this functionality to be applied to multiple layouts at once.

This would save a lot of time, for example when the same transposition needs to be applied to four horns or three trombones — a common requirement when working on concert band or wind ensemble scores.

Could you do one, then duplicate layout to make the others?

… or create a template.

In my workflow, I duplicate my four F Horns to E♭ Horns, and my two C Euphoniums to B♭ Treble Clef and B♭ Bass Clef parts. I usually do this just before printing my score. Using templates doesn’t seem to be a simple solution in this case, as I often work with imported XML files.

From my experience it’s more efficient – and less time consuming – to use a template with ALL your custom settings (the house style), create the key and time signature scheme and copy the music from the XML import into the new file. This also gets rid of some XML surprises and you get always a consistent result.

I thought of this as well, but I don’t think it works. The overrides are tied to a specific instrument within the layout, so when you duplicate the overridden layout and change it to a different player, you lose the override settings.

Or were you thinking of a different approach?

No. Just demonstrating my ignorance!

Not at all – it would be nice if this were possible!
