When importing an audio file cubase asks you if you want to “copy to working directory”. If you select this, cubase copies the file to the location, and the size of the file being copied determines how long it takes for cubase to import. Instead of waiting for the file to finish copying to the new location you could have the program do this:
-Import the file to cubase using the initial location (location A)
-In the background, copy file in location A to the working directory, location B.
-When copying is complete, a dialog box pops up saying “Hey user, xyz.wav has finished copying to the working directory. Would you like to start using it from that location?”
This makes file imports insanely fast.
