[Feature Request] Flexible slip editing

To align hit point/transient of the audio part to the cursor or a desired position, I pretty much like the way how Reaper does it.

Nuendo doesn’t allow you to freely adjust the position of audio part by slip editing. It would be great to have the similar slip editing feature like that.

Also, this post Slip editing audio clip to next hitpoint
suggests a very good point to increase productivity. I’m also curious to know it there is such a feature in Nuendo.

this is partially possible already. look in preferences/tool modifiers/range tool/slip event content.
this way you can set a modifier that together with the range tool and a mouse click and drag allows precisely this behaviour. not sure about hitpoint snapping.

I already know that and I’m doing it.
What I’m saying is that we can’t actually grab the audio and slip edit regardless of the length!

Look at the 2nd GIF in Reaper it can freely move audio without having to adjust or grabbing the audio part later on. Being able to do this with a short duration audio part comes in very handy when you want to just align the hitpoint and also want to retain a bit of pre-transient and tail.

I honestly don’t understand what reaper does differently, the gif is to fast and uninformative for a non-reaper user. Please explain it step by step and how it helps in which context.
This will help us understand and we can then decide and vote if it useful in nuendo. Not that we are that important but the SB team may also be looking

Reaper can slip edit audio even if it’s a 1 second duration or it doesn’t matter at all. Nuendo on the other hand can’t do it unless you shorten/cut the front and rear audio part and have some play.

That’s what I call free slip editing.
It feels more a natural and intuitive behavior. Once you get your hands on Reaper you’ll understand.

Ah yes that sounds useful! It sort of ‘loops’ the clip so you can slip infinitely. Thanks
