It would be really useful to have the option to see a grand staff displaying the currently selected note in the lower zone, especially if the notes could be color coded, perhaps by instrument grouping. This would help immensely in orchestrating large tuttis, for example. Something like this, even without the instruments notated. If not a grand staff, how about color coding the keys displaying on the piano in the lower zone, again by instrument grouping.

So, are you asking for a reduction grand staff that can be always visible as a compositional/orchestration aid? I like the idea and want to make sure that I understand.
Correct, a reduction grand staff that is visible in the lower zone, like the piano is currently. And like the piano, any notes currently selected would be displayed on the grand staff. And then having the ability to assign a color to each instrument grouping or family and have those colors show up on the grand staff, as well as the piano, for that matter. The end result would look something like the image I uploaded.
