Feature Request: Locking/Read-Only Mode in VST Live

Hi everyone,

I would like to propose a new feature for VST Live that would help prevent accidental modifications during live performances or studio sessions. As far as I know, there isn’t a built-in option to lock a song or the entire project (i.e., set it to read-only mode), which could lead to unintended edits at critical moments.

Introducing a lock or read-only mode would significantly enhance the reliability and stability of VST Live in live settings, ensuring that no accidental changes occur during performances. Additionally, it would be very useful in the studio when working on finalized projects.

Thank you for considering this proposal. I look forward to your feedback.

Best regards,

Tim

Similar feature was already requested. Requested was the ability to switch between an Edit mode and a Live mode. But that should covers your needs also.

What about that?.. is that in the roadmap? For us this would be a “must”… any news?

Yes it is.

It’s been quite a while since the last post, and VST 3 has been released. But there’s still no way to lock anything. In my opinion, this is one of the most important things and should be a top priority. It’s far too dangerous for live use!

The song lock feature and Live mode are not the same thing. Locking songs from being changed is important during the editing process to avoid accidentally damaging what has already been created. The live mode switch should disable and enable features that are not needed in Live Mode for the entire project.
