I would like to renew a feature request concerning the behaviour of Reset to Factory in Dorico.
At present, if I press Cmd+Shift+L, select Vertical Spacing, and then click Reset to Factory, Dorico resets not only the Vertical Spacing settings but also other settings. I find this quite inconvenient, because in that situation I only want to reset the category I am currently working on.
I actually raised this issue on the forum nearly five years ago, but I still encounter the same difficulty in practice. As the problem remains, I thought it might be worth requesting this improvement again.
It would be very helpful if Reset to Factory could apply only to the currently selected category or item, rather than affecting other unrelated settings as well.
Even limiting the reset to the selected subcategory, such as Vertical Spacing, would already be a significant improvement. It would make experimentation safer, reduce the risk of losing unrelated custom settings, and provide users with more precise control.
For reference, here is the earlier thread I posted on the same issue nearly five years ago:
If Reset to Factory worked in the way I suggested, the process could be much simpler than using Library Manager. At present, users effectively have to go through an extra set of steps to achieve what feels like it should be a straightforward reset.
What I am suggesting is this:
Change a Vertical Spacing setting in Layout Options.
Reset the Vertical Spacing settings directly there.
At present, the workflow is more complicated:
Change a Vertical Spacing setting in Layout Options.
Close the Layout Options window.
Open Library Manager from the Library menu.
Find the corresponding item.
Apply the factory setting.
Anyway, I am glad to know that this method exists. I had seen it before, but had completely forgotten about it. Many thanks!
