Another thought occurred to me: double dotting. It’s comparably rare, but it’s something worth considering if this was implemented.
Double tap for regular dotted, and long press for double dotted? Or long press for triplets?
You can already hold alt and press . to “add more dots”, if you didn’t know.

I didn’t! Learn new things everyday.
Frankly, we’ve long crossed the threshold of having a program that is so powerful that I cannot keep track of everything anymore.

No I can’t. Dorico 5 won’t let me add a second key command for dotted notes!
It lets me. And they all work.

Also, you can double-tap note values to make them dotted. This has been implemented since this thread was last active two years ago…

Yes but only with keyboard: with the mouse it doesn’t work!
Well… no… but these last posts have been about key commands rather than mouse input.
