FEATURE REQUEST: Save as new version unique naming

I would like to request a feature that allows you to add a unique name (instead of an 01, 02, etc numbering add-on) to a new version.

I would like to know if anyone agrees with this. I come from Logic Pro, so I’m used to “Project Alternatives”, where you can uniquely name your Project Alternatives. As soon as create a new version, it asks you to create a name for the alternative.

This is what I am asking for from Cubase. When you “Save as new version”, I would love if it came with a prompt that allowed you to set a unique name for it rather than having to go to the file, and rename it manually. Maybe if you don’t put in a unique name, it will just number it, but having the option to immediately name your version would be super helpful and would help keep session and session versions organized.

Hi, you can do this with “Save As…” option.
This will create a new version of your project and will prompt you to set a unique name for it, as you request.
If you still like the numbered style, then use the “Save New Version”. :+1:

Hmm…duuuhh I guess.
I always thought Save As was a little different, and possibly saved a bigger file than a new version. I guess that makes sense though.

I see. No, it creates identical files in terms of size, it just lets you decide the name you want.
