Feature request: Show contents in "folder with group channel" when collapsed

Hi,

I like the newly introduced “Folder with Group Channel” feature — it definitely makes life easier.

However, it would be great if the contents could still remain visible even when the folder is collapsed. Maybe similar to a normal folder track, but semi-transparent, so you can still see things like volume automation at a glance.

Kind regards,
Bernd

Hi,
This feature is already present. Please refer to this post.

Ah great! Thank you

I can confirm the workaround works — unchecking the “Show Automation on Group Folder Tracks” preference does restore the event content view when the folder is collapsed. However, this creates a new problem: you lose the volume automation line on the group folder track, which is equally useful for navigation and mixing in large templates.

These two pieces of information serve completely different purposes. The event content graphic tells you what is inside the folder and where the activity is. The automation line tells you what the group channel is doing over time. There is no reason why displaying one should exclude the other.

The current implementation forces users to choose between two visual references that should both be available simultaneously. A simple solution would be to split this into two independent preferences — one controlling event content visibility when collapsed, and another controlling group automation display — so users can have both active at the same time.

This feels like an oversight in an otherwise very welcome new feature. Hope it gets addressed in the next update.
