Feature request/The things I miss the most

Switched to Dorico from Finale two years ago. Very happy with that!
What I really miss is some of the functionalities mr Williamsson brought to Finale with his amazing plug-ins. And some more:

  • Filter by duration (and a more streamlined filter UI)
  • “Reversed swing” playback. Very useful for folk music a.o. In Finale you could enter negative swing values (sic!) to achieve this.

This has been requested many times.
Regarding the filter UI - apparently it is technically difficult to change.

Don’t forget, Dorico will let you program two-step keycommands which can help with this too. I use Ctrl/Cmd+F and then a modifier for all my commonly used Filter commands, so I’m not diving through the Filter menu that often.

The frustration I have is the need to go in multiple times to select/deselect specific items, then having deselected you have to reset it to select again.

Yeah, it’s not ideal. I hadn’t done it, but you can set a shortcut for Select or Deselect if that helps.

One thing I liked about Finale’s Filter command is that you could easily specify what elements would be selected all on one window.

For years in Finale I had requested a “Filter Set” type of feature, where you could assign a group of Filters that could be recalled with a single command. Oh well.

I myself use Elgato Stream Deck for filtering in/out, so the clunky UI is no big problem to me personally. (Filter in/filter out-buttons brings me to a SD menu/page with my most used elements). Still I feel that the filter does not fit the dropdown menu system very well and would operate smoother with its own filter window. Easier to filter multiple elements.
