Hey guys, long time Finale user here,
I recently crossgraded to Dorico and starting to get the basics of things. At the moment, I’ve grown attached to Finale’s Maestro font and now use it in Dorico.
However, I’ve noticed that the braces appear a little to “wide” or thick. I know that you can change the brace size and it helps a little, but it would be nice if things like curvature, center and tip thickness, outer and inner parameters etc. can be edited/fine tuned to your liking in Dorico, like you were able to in Finale.
The Document Options in Finale where you can adjust brace/bracket parameters. ^
Hopefully a feature like this can be considered for implementation in Dorico.
Cheers

I haven’t tested it but would the Edit Music Symbol dialog do the trick?
Library > Music Symbols
Sadly no, It only seems to edit X and Y offset , and scale of the glyph. Nothing for thickness, width, tip, body etc.
I don’t think you’ll find those exact settings because it’s a glyph. You can probably substitute another brace from another SMuFL font that is more to your liking in terms of characteristics.
I imagine from the set of options you see in Finale, that Finale probably auto-generates the brace instead of using a glyph for it. This would have some advantages in terms of the controls it could provide like you see in Finale, but would also have some disadvantages, in that if you wanted a brace design that was not possible with those options, it would not be possible. Dorico uses a different approach where it is easier to switch the brace to one of a different design and you could have more different designs available, but without as much direct control over the appearance of a particular brace.
You could also probably make your own brace as an SVG or something in a vector graphics program like Inkscape and import it into the “Edit Music Symbol” dialog.
