The fermata marked there should be placed “below,” but since there are three fermatas connected, do I need to delete them and insert them individually using the “playing technique”?
Not in this case. Just select it in Engrave Mode and press F.
In Engrave… select the lower staff fermata and change its property to below (or just use F to flip it).
(By now you should know how to do these changes)

I think I initially assumed it wouldn’t work because the fermata was connected by a dotted line.
Don’t assume… check.
@k.k don’t be afraid to try something! First, save your work, then try what you think might work. You can always undo or revert back to the saved copy. It might be quicker than asking on the forum.
