How do I remove a fermata from the drum section on MacOS M4 chip?
It should be as simple as selecting the fermata and hitting Delete.
… In Write mode.
To Daniel Spreadbury:
When I delete the fermata from the measures where the drum part is written, it is automatically deleted from the other instrumental measures; i.e. Violin, Piano, etc.
I have Dorico 6.1.10 and I use the MacOS with M4 chip.
Thank you.

Dorico doesn’t allow fermatas or other tempo markings to be selectively excluded from instrumental parts. But yes, it would be very useful to have this option.
Hello SugarFree:
Thanks for your help.
I will just ignore the fermatas until Steinberg can solve the problem; either that or put the fermatas in when there are NO drums.

Minna @mmm3rdpower, due this impossibility, on Engrave Mode you can create a text frame with white background over fermatas:
As result (page view):
You can change the fermatas place to better results, or… put then outside the page, too (I’m using same archive, moving the bass and guitar fermatas):
For engraving/printing purposes, it could be work.
If you want a fermata to display only on some staves, you can create a playing technique with the fermata glyph and place it where you want it. This fermata will not play back, however.
Thank You Rafael Borba:
I went into engrave. Can you please send me instructions regarding the text frame with the white background?
This would help a lot.
Thanks again Rafael.
Minna
For sure, Minna!
-
On Engrave Mode, in the side panel, choose Frames > Insert Text Frame:
-
Insert Frame!
-
In the lower zone panel (also accessed via
Ctrl/Cmd+8) , do the changes:
-
Done!
Tip: as I wrote before, you can move the fermata for a “fine” result, due to its proximity with the staff line (but we have zoom). Take the opportunity to move then to out of page and test it!
Thanks Rafael,
I have one more favor to ask; how do I move system to previous page. Somehow it ended up that way.
Minna
Dear Rafael:
I was able to straighten the rest of the “mess” by going to REVERT. That straightened out the systems, etc.
I still have to get used to hiding the Fermata.
Have a good night’s sleep it’s night where you are.
Thanks for your help.
Minna
Minna, good to know! In any case, you have a few other options regarding systems change (see Formatting panel, on Dorico 6.1 manual - pg. 191).
Good night! And you’re welcome!
Dear Rafael:
I have decided that I won’t put fermatas in my music if there is a drum Line, but will still keep your instructions.
Thank you.
Minna
