Fermatas cause excessive slowdown of Playback with Noteperformer 5.1.1.0

Hello,

When a fermata is used at the start of a bar for a piano score, playback is artificially slowed down starting at the fermata. I have attempted to attach a video showcasing the problem, but videos of only 4mb are allowed. Even after exporting to the lowest possible quality easily achieved on my computer, a 30 second video still clocked in at about 5mb.

Is there any way to more easily upload video of errors Dorico causes? This would make it easiest for me to share errors generated while I’m working, including this one.

Upload it on Youtube, place a link here maybe

And welcome to the forum!

I would expect a slowdown at the fermata, the duration depends on your settings of the specific fermata in the properties

That is my current setting. I’ve attached a Youtube video detailing the error.

David, you are showing the properties for the “poco rallentando…” (and not for the fermata).

Yes, that was deliberate: I want to show that the poco rall isn’t a significant reduction.
The playback slowdown should not be so severe at only 90% reduction. The issue is the interaction of that rallentando with the short fermata.

I am at my phone just now, but I will check at the computer later how the short fermata plays.
I don’t use Noteperformer though. Still I will check.

Have you checked what is happening in the Tempo lane?

Have a quick look at the rallentande the comes before the fermata.

I think I remember some reports of fermatas going rogue when a rallentando goes directly up to or even beyond them…

I seem to remember that too, but wasn’t sure.

Could be this post maybe, where a solution was given by @johnkprice
