I need to place rests in two percussion lines to match where they are in other instruments that are also resting. I’ve read some posts elsewhere that explain how to do this using forced durations but I am unable get the results I need. Please see the attached screenshot. Meas. 1 needs to have the rest on the and of 3 dotted quarter rest and the other needs to be on beat 4. Thank you in advance for the help.
BTW: I added fermatas that were missing on the two instruments in m. 1 for all the eagle eyes out there.
Are the Percussion 1 and 2 players holding kits, or individual instruments?
I found a solution to my own problem, a workaround, really. Insert a note at the appropriate places in the percussion parts which immediately allows the fermatas to appear. Use Custom Scale in the Properties Panel and set it to zero (for some reason it goes to “1” but that seems to suffice) thereby hiding it. Then I create a text item and using the MusGlyphs font, add/type “rrr.” or “rrr” for the dotted quarter rest and quarter rest respectively. Size and position as needed. Perhaps there’s a better solution. Hope this helps someone else.
A solution that seems easier to me (even though it’s a workaround) would be to create the final rest by entering a note just before it, forcing the duration of the rest, and then deleting the note.
(When you see “6”, I actually type “66”)
Thanks for sharing. I’ll try that next time.
