Cubase 14.0.10 was crashed and deleted my saved with Cmd+S file. Also all .bak files wasn’t created or also deleted instantly. I don’t know how that’s possible, but it’s only showed me first backup file that’s been made in first 15 minutes. Later all 4 hours job has gone. Hopefully this can be sorted out as I have to make it again somehow… p.s Disk Drill doesn’t see any files aslo…

How do you know it’s Cubase that deleted the files, rather than the OS or a hardware error?

Because it was Cubase crash. Unfortunately no log.
Cubase normally asks if I want to delete older backups if accidentally press the wrong button it’s gone. I think in this bug have issue that it’s deleted without question and additionally original project file that was saved with pressing Save Project hotkey. I had experipment, totally rebuilding project I’ve made in Ableton Live 2 days ago. Found strange summing in Live, and wanted to recreate with totally same parameters in gain and EQs etc. The thing is that I’ve finished and when I’ve added of the last FX audio files and moved them inside of the DAW crashed happened.
What I can say that it’s real!!! Cubase summing is just amazing compare to totally unexpected Ableton Live renders 
So my experiment was successful!!! I’m fine to spend 3 more hours in Cubase 13 to have compared files! But yes, these projects file has gone and no .baks as well 
Hopefully soon these bugs can be fixed. Looking for Cubase 15 and killer features to out-stand hight speed creative productions!

What if the Cubase crash was also triggered by the same problem, that deleted your files?

I found them 
all baks also in another folder, but now with added names made in changes. Actually I was thinking that it’s impossible to delete it that way, no logic in that… Arri doesn’t work like that 
Cubase have totally different summing in transients, attacks etc.
I’ve updated to last Mac OS and also set up baks every five minute, so will be keep testing 14

yeah - that’s why I kept questioning your original observation. Just a few days ago someone else had a similar experience as you. Files were in a different place than expected.
haha ! Yes, Cubase is a big and complex beast. But that’s the case with a lot of feature rich software that’s been aging in place.

They somehow were not searchable, but was on Desktop)) after updating MacOs for last version it, become searchable. Also cause of late night I didn’t see them. +8 Asia timezone. Too tired. Good lesson to work in the morning
It is German, deep question and can’t be explained in short. Basically it is very systematic mindset. But it goes down to DNA and system that is left from ancestors that’s the best in world. All gvt still working and always gonna be changing and be updated to all the changes the world goes to.

The folder is called Auto Saves. Instead of saving it in the same level as the .cpr file, now Cubase stores them inside the Auto Saves folder so this makes the folder structure much more organized.
