This is kind of a niche use case, but if somebody could help, it could potentially save me a lot of time. I am importing .xml from an OMR program for white mensural notation. The fusae are unbeamed (because beaming hadn’t been invented) and imported as eighth notes into modern notation. What I want is an automated way to beam together the eighth notes so that I don’t have to find and select each group individually (16s are OK too, but they’re pretty rare). I’ve tried selecting everything and then running “beam together” from the Jump bar, but when faced with the command to beam things that can’t be beamed, Dorico chooses to do nothing. And I don’t find the option to filter by note duration. Does anybody have an idea how this could be possible? (Anything is possible in Dorico, but much is not practical.)
Is Right-click > Beaming > Reset Beaming an option?
It follows the settings in Notation Options > Beam Grouping

Wow, that did it! Thanks!
If you uncheck all the options in Preferences>MusicXML Import… Dorico will apply its defaults (or whatever you have changed them to) so 8ths should be beamed automatically.
