I apologize, because I know this is a Dorico forum. I’ve posted here many times before. But now I urgently need help with Finale 27. I’m sure there are some former Finale users and experts here, and I can’t find a functioning Finale forum.
My problem: what are these strange symbols (articulations?) and how do I remove them?
Maybe this way I’ll also find a few Finale users whom I could contact directly next time.

My guess is that they are dynamics but the problem is that there is a font for which Finale is substituting. I’ve seen this kind of thing having upgrading my computer several times throughout my time with Finale. You can either add the font or tell Finale to use one that is appropriate.

Which OS are you using? It does sound like a font problem, but the few times I’ve had to return to F27 since leaving it nearly two years ago for Dorico, there have been a variety of issues with things like Smart Shapes, and even getting Expressions to work. Part of that, or much of that, relates to macOS 26.X, but it’s also a fact that Finale has been dead for two years, and realistically even longer since there was little or no meaningful development or bug fixes since probably around 2023.
There are two forums of which I’m familiar. One is the “official” forum that MakeMusic never really participated in (and how long this forum is maintained since Finale’s demise is unknown), and the other is a user-maintained forum. I’ve also come upon a French one, but only used it to get the occasional .Lua script. All are not well trafficked anymore, I think, judging from how few recent comments are there and how long they’ve been up.
Anyway, let me know which OS you are using as that will help, and which font are you using? Is it a SMuFL font?
I saw a similar problem crop up in my last years with Finale - if I remember it was font related - usually dynamics using the later SMUFL fonts.
