Find which VST3 is stopping CUbase updates from loading

Hi - I’ve been a Cubase user since the very first version. Then crunch! I hadn’t been able to open either of the last 2 updates of Cubase 15 and gave up in despair, reverting back to 15.1.

Until today! Having become best friends with Chat GPT I set out to troubleshoot the problem. I’m pleased to say it did - but it went one step further - creating a programme for anyone to use. This runs in Powershell and lets you take out VST3s, one or more at a time until by prcess of elimination you find the culprit.

Now I have 866 plugins, so that could have taken forever if I went one at a time, but I took out sections until cubase loaded, then I drilled into the section and narrowed it down.

As it happened there were 2, but once found and updated the thing works like magic! It loads up so quickly and I couldn’t be happier!

And once it was done Chat decided to make it more user friendly for me to share.

It also exports all your plugins to a CSV so that you can see them - which is a good idea if you’re like me and forget what’s in there.

I’m very happy to share it with Steinberg / the community as it’s a game changer. I don’t know how I would do that, but shout if you want it :smiley:

Welcome to the Cubase Forum. What you can do here is based on your Trust Level which increases as you read threads, post new ones and otherwise engage in the forum. Initially you can’t attach any files to a post but after reading a few threads your Trust Level will increase and let you. You should have gotten a message (email???) when you joined explaining the Trust Levels so look at that for more details (or check the Forum Guide).

The other potential gottchas are 1) that the filetype can’t be uploaded, in which case make it into a zip file or 2) the file is too large, in that case you have to host it elsewhere and post a link to it here.

Thanks Raino. I’ve been on the forum for sometime now, and taken some great ideas from contributors. Just never put anything forward myself. But as I thought I had something to offer I put this up. Then you should be able to just drag the file into a post you are writing.
