I’m trying to adjust specific items where there’s a cue.
I’d like either to move the rest leftwards a bit, or the cue note right a bit.
In engrave mode, I’ve tried all sorts of things, including setting X offsets or using the note spacing tool but to no effect.
Moving the rest down is definitely the easiest option, and probably the clearest (so that it lines up with the whole rest in the next bar and doesn’t cross over with the cue). You can do that with the Rest Pos property.
I need rather more there than the default would give, and this seems to be the best compromise. That sort of fine adjustment was perhaps one of the very few things Finale was better at.
You can move the note to the right by selecting it in Engrave mode, activating the Voice Column Index property, and setting it to 1.
If you want to adjust the offset, activate the Voice Column Spacing Offset (in the Note Spacing section in the Properties panel) and change the value.
And once it’s in a different voice column, you can extend it further using Note Spacing.
