How do I get this to work?

Where are you attempting to type this? Into the Shift-R popover, perhaps?

Thank you for replying.
The issue is not with engraving. The text appears just fine over the staff. I tried inputting by directly typing in the popover, and choosing from the menu on the right. I did this with “DC al Fine” and “Fine.”
The issue is with playback. The playback does repeat, but it does not stop at Fine.

That’s odd. I’m quite confident I’ve used that several times, and it did stop at the Fine marking. Have you checked out the Playback options (cmd-shift-P) to see whether there’s something about repeats not stopping at fine ?
OT, fine also work in the shift B popover: it puts a final double barline.

That’s the beauty of the options in Dorico. Even if you don’t know whether there’s an option, you know where it might be, if there is one. This is invaluable. Seems overwhelming at first, but it’s indeed so well thought out that we can help, even without being in front of the computer.
