I am trying to figure out how to show the fingering bracket next to the notes while the fingering for the entire chord is above. This is what publishers I work for prefer:
There are bracket-shaped vertical lines available. I usually see such a bracket on the left side of a chord, which is where Dorico places them by default. But if you need it on the right side, apply the ] bracket, and go to engrave mode to move it over and move the top down.
There are dedicated properties for this, which ensure Dorico knows where the line is “supposed” to go and results in more reliable spacing:
