Hello,
Is it possible to use Dorico’s fingering tools to indicate one finger playing two adjacent notes, such as in the following example from a Henle edition of Schumann?
Many thanks
Timo
You select the notes and then type 1,1 into the fingering popover. However, curiously, it places the resulting 1[ under or over the notes, so you need to move it into position in Engrave Mode. If you use Position Left of Note Head in the properties panel, the bracket disappears and it becomes two 1’s, which is certainly another legitimate way to indicate this, but not what you want.
The bracket symbol is also a Bravura glyph and you could add it as a Playing Technique. And there are also a vertical brackets under Lines, but maybe a little too wide for this, although some are great to show right and left hand on the other staff.
thank you, John! This was exactly the problem I was experiencing—I could produce it on top but not to the side. Wondering if this is a bug or expected behavior.
You are very welcome, timoandres. I don’t know if this is the expected behavior or not, but you can just. move it into position in Engrave Mode.
there is also a bracket in ornaments, which resizes according to the required distance between notes.
I use this extensively when writing doublestops for strings in an orchestral context.
however, using this bracket places it on the wrong side of the fingering number… you get this result:
[ 1 ♪
(with two numerals)
