Is there a spacing change somewhere in engraving options that would fix these collisions automatically? (and of 1 in 2nd measure) Thanks!
I don’t really understand why I would want to change note spacing to fix a collision. Shouldn’t Dorico automatically adjust to the fingerings and slides like it indicates in the manual?
Fingering slides automatically avoid obstructions, such as noteheads, accidentals, and other fingerings.
I wish they did! I have a lot of slides in my classical guitar projects that run into the previous note.
I agree, it should work without any note spacing changes. Did you try how it looks with factory settings? Could be some setting somewhere. If you could supply the file, it would be easier to figure out.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have made so many adjustments in layout, notation, and engraving, and then use earlier files as templates - copying to a new factory settings file should help me pinpoint many of these issues.
Thanks for your effort here - I could write it all 16th, but I prefer showing the 8ths on top. There’s always engrave nudging…
I fixed many of these problems by forcing system breaks, but still a lot of nudging, especially for the slides.
Of course! I was not suggesting you to change your notation. I was just trying to understand what was causing this unwanted behaviour.
This is unfortunately a limitation in the way that spacing works. Dorico will detect collisions between solid objects that are associated with notes - accidentals, fingerings, etc - in adjacent spacing columns, and add extra space for them. Here, however, the fingerings don’t collide with the preceding spacing column - instead the collision is with the column before that. Dorico is not able to resolve this collision automatically at present. Obviously this is something we would like to improve, but it is not a trivial problem.
