I attached the fingering to another note and moved it into position. Is there a better way?
Create a Playing Technique with 3212 and use it at will.
Not sure if it’s better, it’s just what I would do.
Thanks, @MicheleGalvagno That’s a excellent work-around. The same combinations come up a lot: 4321 is very common, for example, so there wouldn’t be many to create.
Another way just occurred to me. Create a second voice with a note in the right position and make it invisible after putting in the fingering. But that’s a lot of work.
The hidden second voice method seems more robust to me, positioning-wise.
In theory positioning should be as robust because you use the caret and the rhythmic grid unless, granted, you need it in a specific spot of a tuplet.
You also need to suppress playback, which is yet another step.
With the PT, create it once, default it, use it forever for free.
Thanks, @Mark_Johnson and @MicheleGalvagno I’ll be using the Playing Technique workaround. And it has a certain Finale nostalgia about it. (I know, @benwiggy, “You can take…” etc. )
Turns between notes are the bane of notation programs. They just don’t behave like all the other “nicer” ornaments.
