Hi, how can I change setting so that fingering comes exclusively outside the staff? I haven’t find the suitable tool in Engraving options. (By the way, Dorico’s fingering technology is smashing, I hated to write fingering in Finale, cos every single number needed to be adjusted properly, here I add the number and that’s it, all done! Thanks!)
For what Instrument? Working with mostly Brass, I’ve never seen them any other place than outside the staff.
As an aside, have you checked the Properties Panel? There are often formatting options there.
For piano:)
By default, fingering for piano is indeed outside the staff by default. Can you be more specific about when you are finding that fingering is inside the staff?
I wasn’t correct in the words, sorry, this is what I meant, the number is somehow squeezed to the stem on the side instead of positioning above. I pretty like this engraving custom, but some cases prefer the other way.
@kaposi.g see R.H. guitar fingerings alignment - #2 by dspreadbury or read it here below.
“To make the ‘t’ and ‘i’ fingerings positioned above the note rather than tucked in next to them, on the Fingering page of Engraving Options, set ‘Minimum horizontal gap between fingering and other item’ to something larger than the default 1/8 space value; even 1/4 space should be enough.”
That setting in Engraving options will also work for the case you posted above.
Thank you @rafaelv , this worked:)
