Where is the option to have the possibility to put the fingerings above the first notes when the stems are directed upwards? As in the Ricordi, Peters editions.
Dorico:
Or there is only the possibility to manually put each time an X and Y offset (I also did not find how to copy and paste a fingering)
Or must I to make an additional script as workaround for the moment?
Best regards
I believe one has to find the good medium with that value and live with having to do a few manual edits.
In your example, though, the main issue I see is that there is too much space between note 8 and 9 and not enough between note 7 and 8. Is there something in the LH causing this? Even if, I would move note 8 to the right without altering the global spacing.
@John_Ruggero
oh no!..Thanks for returning to the subject, because I see that I was going to rush headlong with this setting and waste paper printing @MicheleGalvagno
If one has any experience with a competing product, they should be aware of a massive difference between it and Dorico: changing settings about positioning items updates existing items in Dorico, while it doesn’t in the other program until you select them and reset their position.
Both approach have their advantages, the other software’s one being that what you have already touched will not be affected by changes to global settings.
From my experience—breaking my nose in the wall multiple times—with Dorico is to take a note of settings that should be changed and apply them in the score of the NEXT project. Anything I find when in the last stretch of editing must not be changed!
The reason for the different positioning is that Dorico writes the Fingering centered on the note, instead of the stem as in the first screenshot of this thread. And in the 4th post’s screenshot it wants to avoid the sharp.
I found that with this settings in Engraving Options, and as @MicheleGalvagno suggests move the C# a tiny bit to the right (using Shift+Alt+Command+right arrow key to make very fine adjustments), I obtain the below result without other manual adjustments:
Thanks, @Christian_R Yes, I realized that it was the sharp, and one could adjust it or the note position. So it becomes a question of which is more efficient to adjust. In my case, it is easier to adjust the fingerings rather than the notes or accidentals, so I am leaving that option set to the default.
But I do think that Dorico should be taking care of this, since it should be the normal behavior of fingering on the beam side.
