"FIRST" template fails to assign to p1 of a part automatically

I made changes to the Default Score layout (adding Work # for a Show running order box fed by Token from the Info screen).
I wanted to bring that change into the Default Part template, so I imported the First page from the Default Score set… Somehow the First template in the Party got unhooked, and will now only display as an override (green bar above the page display in Engrave)
I tried to create a Page Template set (Default Show score, Default Show Part), but when I apply it, the First template unhooks.
I checked Layout Options, and “Use First Page Template” is set to “First Flow Only.” That would seem correct? I checked the Frame Chain names, the links match.
How can I reattach the First page template so any part uses it?
What’s the right way to do this? I’m trying to build these templates correctly so I don’t have the same errors in the next 21 pieces.

I’m trying to make a fresh file, starting over, adding my change to theDefault Full Score First template, I see what I want there now, but the page is now showing an override. How can I do this so it’s not an override? And how can I propagate it to the Default Part First? And rename and save it so the whole series uses the same template sets?

According to the definition a green bar is not an override, it’s a template change.

If you use other template sets as “Default Full Score” and “Default Part” you have to specify these in Layout Options > Page Setup > Page Template for all layouts

Looking at these some more, it seems there’s an error somehow in the frame chain assignments. The first frame shows MZ, but everywhere else it’s MA. If I change the first page frame link to MA, it shows as an override (the red triangle). How can I fix that so it’s not an override?
Meanwhile, the music flow is not affected by the Frame link name… maybe something got screwed up on XML import…

You might have to change the identifier of the frame in the template rather than in the page.

Could you upload a (slimmed) project, this makes it easier to help.

Yes! That solves the override problem, and the frame links are straightened out! Thanks so much, Vadian!

  • So now I see that for the new template applied to new parts, not only does the Template Set have to be defined also in Layout Options, but also have that selection saved as a default Layout Options setting… I think I’m set now.
