After getting the chance to work with Wavelab Elements for a couple days I have been very impressed with the variety of audio editing and restoration tools it offers. I have also been having a few issues that I hope we can work out. See sig for specs.
Since updating to 7.2.1, it seems that all of my audio meters are attacking earlier than the audio, including the spectroscope, oscilloscope, VU meter, and the meter in the master section. Is this an easy fix?
Crossfading is also tedious in the audio file workspace. I have been copying, pasting, and crossfading for months in the Cubase project window without problems. But in WL once I copy my selection, set the cursor, and press Paste and Crossfade>Linear (Equal Gain), a window pops up saying:
The data you are about to paste is shorter than the selection it is to be crossfaded with. This is not allowed. Please try again, with for example a smaller selection.
What does this mean?! Since crossfading is not mentioned in the Help document, how am I supposed to know how to crossfade effectively in this new environment?
Crashes. Every time I import an M4A file, Wavelab crashes UNLESS Quicktime is open. Playing certain imported files has also triggered crashes, but I suspect system overload on these.
A feature request. Wouldn’t it be neat if Wavelab had some kind of built in tempo track that you could alter in order to quantize the audio, similar to how it is done in Cubase 6.5?

Crossfading happens with the audio in the clipboard, being crossfaded with the current time selection.
Hence, the audio in the clipboard, must be at least as long at the current time selection.
Dear PG, this is exactly why better documentation is needed. Newcomers (and old users alike) need to be provided some guidance as to suggested best practices and the purpose and use cases for the included functionality.
Yes, I will be buying Wavelab 7 Power very soon. Looks to be a very informative book.
Thank you PG!! Turning the buffer size down solved everything, I was on 2048 samples for recording.
I have seen the tutorial videos and the montage workspace seems to handle crossfades well. I thought that the montage area was totally designated to CD burning, but opening the Help section revealed that wasn’t the case. Come quickly Wavelab 7 Power!!
