Flawless install using MacOS Migration Assistant

After reading quite a few queries on the forum about installing Dorico on a second Mac, I was prepared for a bit of a slog.

It, umm… took about ten minutes to set up a Mac Mini from an existing MacBook while I sat and drank my coffee.

  1. Connect the two machines via Thunderbolt cable
  2. Open Migration Assistant on the MacBook and follow the instructions
  3. After ten minutes (transfer speeds around 1 GB/s), the new Mac was set up automatically with barely any work. Dorico was already installed, the licenses were activated (just had to relaunch SAM), and all my key commands and preferences were just as they had been on my other machine.

Sharing this in case it helps anyone else. I had blocked off a day for this. Never mind now.

Granted, not everyone’s use case is the same as mine, but geez. It can’t be this easy.
