Instead the part that I press turns green like this
and the only workaround so far is to click or tap on some other parts until FlexLoop indeed becomes “alive” and starts to do its job as I would expect it from the beginning.
I could once capture a video of this behavior but unfortunately forgot to save it. So you have to believe me that this sometimes happens and seems to be a bug at least imo.
If I may mention that here again in combination with this potential bug: Could you add the function to click or tap on the same part again that is already running and VST Live then will restart the part regarding the set quantization amount in the FlexLoop setting (in my case 1 bar?)
…and if possible also add the feature to define special parts that contain fill-ins or breaks that ignore the quantization set in the FlexLoop setting and become played immediately - in time - as soon as they become activated (tapped or clicked on)?
I tried many times and jumping from part to part while playing is working for me.
I recommend to restart computer every time after any update. Sometimes OS do bad things.
I doubt you can re-trigger the currently playing part. And the problem that I cannot always jump into other parts also only happens few times, mostly after a new song got loaded or activated. As soon as I clicked other parts, flex looping is working. However it is sometimes bothery when it doesn’t work immediately and all the time. In a live performance you don’t want to have to deal with clicking other parts first in order flex loops is working as it should
That will not be possible. But in stop mode, it should. It’s on the list.
Never had that. Any more hints how to reproduce?
If you try very very soon after Song change (which doesn’t make a lot of sense), the UI may still be busy processing the Song change request, then you may have to press a bit longer.
Why can it not become possible too to jump into the already playinh part again? Could have used that several times already…
Maybe that’s the cause. But sometimes I think it also has happened when the song was switched/loaded a long time already.
I’ve tried to create a video on this. I made it once but forgot to save the video… Every other time I tried I couldn’t get it on the record. However it still happens quite often actually. Maybe it also has to do that I click on the wrong “part” of the part: E. g. I accidentially or unintentionally hit spot one or 2 and then it does not work…
As far as I can see I always have to hit mostly the middle of the button (around position 3 in the pic) in order VST Live is recognizing that I want to change to this part (I actually would prefer I could click on all the positions and not only in the middle, but that might be another topic)… However it also has happened that I clicked in the middle of the part several times and nothing happened… The trick was to activate another part first and switch back to the one that I wanted to start. The behavior only occurs until the first - I call it “Flex Loop jump - has occured, so indeed after loading the song. After the jumps work as intended…
As you can see on my first click after enabling the FlexLoop function on the Refrain, VST Live was playing the intro, but didn’t immediately jump into the Refrain as I would have expected.
I had to click on another part (the first Refrain in the video) in order the FlexLoop function would start to work… This (unfortunately) happens quite often for the first part that I want to be played with the Flex Loop function.
To me it doesn’t look like this has something to do with a song change as you was assuming as the song was loaded for a long time already…
By the way: I think I quite like the Part End configuration of the FlexLoop function. However, I somethims would like to quickly switch from Part End to 1 BAR and vice versa (while in the live performance). Could you add a switch that quickly allows to quickly change these two playback behaviors so that I don’t need to click twice to first open the list…
…but instead can pre-configure VST Live which two configurations (in my case 1 BAR and Part End) shall be used and simply press a button or a key to switch between them while doing the live performance? This would help me even further to better use FlexLoops…
I think you misunderstand me. What I want is a toggle to quickly switch between two settings (in my case 1 BAR and Part End) for quickly changing the Flex Loop playback behavior during a live perfomance. The need for clicking on the list and choose the right one seems too tricky if this needs to be used live…
As you see the part that I clicked doesn’t become a red bar indicating that this part will be played next. And indeed it will not play it next until I somehow het this red bar running backwards, showing me that the part will play next. To me this looks like a bug and it happens actually quite often when I want to use FlexLoops. It always happens on the first part that I want to use - once the first red bar appears everything works fine. The setting (part end, 1 bar) never played a roll as the part that I clicked on (AFTER the FlexLoop activation) remained green an therefore wouldn’t play next no matter what I do…
come on @UdoBehm There is the toggle button. Set it to a healthy 1BAR and enjoy staying in rhytm
Of course… I guess it needs to realise you toggled flexloop… how would it know retrograde what was the situation before and what user currently wants right now?
As you can see in my video I exactly did this… I enabled FlexLoops, the intro part was playing meanwhile and after clicking the (second) Refrain part it would not immediately jump into that part… Interestingly I just see that the Intro part was playing when I activated FlexLoops but it looks like it was not recognized by VST Live that it played (it has no green bar indicating that this part is playing). Maybe that’s the point: Does VST Live first need a part to be played and get the green play bar indicating that it’s playing before I can switch between parts? If it is like that - maybe you could add that clicking another part after FLexLoops is being turned on immediately jumps in that part no matter another part is “playing” already or not?! If this is the case this would solve my issue… Maybe there is more issues than that. But I just see that when watching my video again…
