Flipped staves within single percussion instrument

Flipped Staves.pdf (26.8 KB)

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting.

I have recently created a large-scale orchestral score by first writing each movement individually and then pasting all of the movements into one single score. When I pasted one of the movements, the program flipped the two staves within two of the percussion instruments (so, four staves in total) but kept the printed notes in their original orientation on the page. So, what should read as ordinario strikes now appear on a line entitled “scrape,” and vice-versa. I have tried everything I can think of, but I cannot re-orient the staves so that the “scrape” lines appear on top, and the “ordinario” line appears second. Can someone please help me?

Welcome to the forum! Could you post the project file? It’ll probably be enough if you cut it down to the first couple of bars. That’ll get you the best answers the quickest.

Hi Zalde! I tried to post a screen shot of a few bars in my original post. Did that not come through? If not, what file type is best for me to post here? The entire project is huge, so I won’t post that here.

The PDF did come through, but the Dorico project file makes it easier to see what’s going on.

You can save a copy of your file, then delete everything after the first few bars. You can also go to Play > Playback Template and apply the Silence template. That should make the file small enough to upload.

OK, I think I’ve saved this in the appropriate file format. If the format stays the same as what I see, the issue occurs on page 22 in the Sus Cym 2 part, and also in the Tam Tam part. I hope this helps, and I appreciate any feedback that you all can offer!

Hi @PSchleker, I hope I understood your desire (if not, sorry).

To move the instrument at the desired position in a kit, you need to edit the Percussion Kit, switching to the Grid panel (which is your current visualisation for that kit, as defined in Layout Options > Players > Percussion).
And once you are in the Grid panel of the dialogue, you can move your instrument positions:

Add-on:
if you also want, for some reason, the stem direction to follow exactly the voice assignments in the edit percussion kit dialogue (otherwise, with only one instrument playing in a specific bar, the stems will point to the middle of the grid), just activate the Drum set checkmark:

Thank you, Christian! I figured it must be a simple operation, but I never thought to look in the “grid” tab! This worked perfectly. Thank you so much!

Glad I could help, @PSchleker.

I added also a notice at the end of my previous post, for the stems directions…
