Flow heading alignment

Dear Fellow Dorico Users

I’m just wondering if there is a way to align flow headings to the start of the first system of each flow (see picture attached)? I suppose that it can be achieved by using System Text instead of the actual Flow Headings, but that would mess up the part layouts, tacets, etc.

Thanks
Augustin

I was going to tell you to edit the flow header master so that the flow title was aligned to the left, but after I read more carefully, I see that’s not exactly what you meant.

Indeed, I think you would need to use system text for this. You could create a new paragraph style called “flow title” and move it in Engrave mode (and Propagate!).

I suppose you could modify the left alignment and indent of the flow title for each layout, which would produce a page override. But that might be better than system text.

Another thing that just occurred to me is that you may be able to set a high enough indent for the first system that you will get a consistent indentation for each part layout, regardless of instruments name. In that case, you could use the same part master page with the flow title aligned exactly as you want.

Dear Dan

Wow, thank you so much, I think your last suggestion will be the winner. In the full score I’ll set a higher indentation to achieve consistency then I can easily align the flow heading with the start of the first systems. Since the part layouts have no staff labels by default, those are already consistent in the amount of indentation. (It is great to have the option to use different default flow heading masters for full scores and parts.)

Thank you again,
