Flow tacet

In Flow 2, the A instrument has no notes at all, yet it is not marked as tacet. Instead, it is notated with a multi‑measure rest and a tempo indication, thereby forming part of the structural layout of Flow 2.

For the Tacet to show up, in setup mode:

  • The player must be disconnected from the flow.
  • and its Layout must be connected to the flow.

What should I do? Is there something causing flow2 to appear?

Setup Mode:

In the left hand column, select Player A.
In the bottom column, untick Flow 2.

An illustrated example of the three possible display options. Let’s say one player is not playing in Flow 3.

  1. Both the player and the layout are connected to flow 3: you get a normal display, with a staff and multi-bar rests for the whole flow:

  2. Flow 3 is removed from the layout: the flow disappears totally, wether the player is connected to it or not:

    or:

  3. The player is disconnected from the Flow, but the layout stays connected: you get the tacet

Thanks.

For some instruments, tacet appears automatically without going through this process—why is that? Even when I select flow2, tacet still comes out automatically.

I’m not sure. AFAIK, when you create a player, the player is automatically assigned to all flows, and when you create a new flow, it’s automatically assigned to all players. Any disconnection means that there has been a manual action at some point, I think.

Edit : I updated my previous post, having just realized that the explanation is clearer if I select the flow rather than the player or the layout, since you can see both connections at the same time.

Unless the file started as an xml import.
