Flows or ? for lots of little numbered sections?

Can anyone suggest an approach (or point to documentation) on how to format music that consists of lots of four to 12 bar exercises on a single page, in the spirit of, say, Music For Sight Singing (Rogers & Ottman) like attached (I think this a fair use size quote…):

Thanks!!

Personally, I’d be putting all the “13” exercises in one flow, with a system break between each individual exercise as per your example.

I don’t think you’d be able to have auto-numbering to the left of the exercises though. But, you could easily create a paragraph style that aligns with the beginning of the system and enter the exercises numbers as staff-attached text.

I would recommend using separate flows for each exercise. There is at present no feature to automatically show flow numbers to the left of the system, but this has been discussed on the forum before, and there are options for how to achieve it, e.g. discussed here:

I’m sorry, I can’t look at these screenshots lol

I’m wondering if it would break (a lot of) stuff internally (perhaps by recursion…) if the instrument names (and why not player names, while at it) were allowed to use text tokens. This would solve in certain situations the naming at least quasi-elegantly:

I think I will probably use flows and not fuss too much over the layout for now, because that also means I can render each flow into a separate audio file, which I don’t think I can do with system breaks.

Thanks all!
