Hi there

I am wondering how I can get the rhythmic slashes to move from where they are to being in the staff. It seems awkward as is. How would I get it to look correct

This is the normal notation. Even if I transpose this up an octave the rhythmic slash is the same as above

I do not have a solution, but if I were to read the notation, I would prefer to have a Slash Noteheads with Stems - to get a clear understanding of the rhythm.

Slashes without Stems could just as well be Quarters.

How did you create the slashes? Here, the notes are on the middle line with oversized slash noteheads.

I wonder if the problem occurs because this is a converted XML file.

I used

Edit-voices-create slash rhythms with stems. It still puts them as shown and won’t move.

Is there another way to get the desired result like you sent?

When I use create slash voice with stems, they automatically get centered. Can you edit the pitches before creating the slashes? Or perhaps re-enter them. Could very well be some XML strangeness.

Yes, I did try transposing the normal notation up an octave: same result.

That’s why I am Flummoxed! Maybe I can try to add instrument and copy and paste part?

Well the new part idea did not seem to work..I think this may be a bug…

The Bass clef looked OK so I tried pasting the treble clef into the bass clef

Is this a bug? There seems to be no acces to selecting what note you want the slash to be on…

Can you upload your project file so someone can take a look? Or a cut-down version that demonstrates the issue? Just need a few bars with that slash notation.

Select the problem notation
Do Edit > Reset Position

Note that I converted a older Finale file to xml and imported it.

It is possible that the problem arrived with the xml file. It is generally a good idea to uncheck all the Dorico xml import options (in Preferences).
