Focus issues when entering independent voice playback

Around the input of independent voice there seem to be some focus issues.

It starts when you activate independent playback. Instead of staying at the instrument you just activated the focus jumps to the top of the top of player list. So you have to scroll back to the player/instrument . This is reproducible. Also when you enter a new channel for an instrument in one of the voices and press enter the focus often but not always jumps back to the top of the instrument list. Annoying if you have multiple cello voices and want to enter one after the other. Each time you have to scroll back from piccolo to cello nearly at the bottom of the list.

Another undesired behaviour is that when activating independent playback often a new instance is created in the VST and Midi bank and even linked with the voice. So e.g. if you use VEP you get a non connected copy of the original bank entry for the first voice. Probably well thought if you use separate plugins but annoying if you use VEP. I did not find anything in the setting to deactivate this behaviour.

Another issue with the input of voices. You enter voice 1 and 2 and then change voice 2. For reasons unknown it will move to the top. See screenshot.

Here 1 is brass normal and 2 is muted. No big issue but confusing.

Yes, we’re aware of these issues. When you enable or disable independent voice playback, Dorico has to recalculate all of the voices belonging to all of the instruments, and rebuild the track overview in Play mode. It does try to keep the same instrument selected, but unfortunately this does often fail. It’s something we plan to improve in future.
