Focused Quick Controls not working even though they are set up correctly

I’m on a mac, and I have the latest Cubase Pro. I just gave my computer a fresh install and I am installing everything again. I set up the midi map for my Komplete Kontrol S61 and all of the midi maps work perfect except the focused quick controls. Please see screenshots.

Also, the buttons for the activate sends takes like 3 or 4 presses for it actually turn on the send. How do I fix this? Everything was working fine in my last OS install. Also, even though I have programmed and re-programmed it several times, a button assignment keeps changing. How do I prevent this?

Most probably you have to set the mode of your assignments to sends, to “Jump” instead of “Toggle”.

How did you setup your knobs for the Komplete Kontrol from each own editor? Inside the MIDI Remote I see them acting as absolute. Maybe inside Komplete Kontrol you’ve set them up as relative? In this case you should change the value mode inside the MIDI Remote accordingly.

@m.c You were right, once I switched them to gate, they all worked as expected. Thank you!

So for the quick controls, as far as I can tell they are set up good. Can you tell by looking at the photos if something is off that I’m missing? Thank you.

@m.c I just tested the same thing on my roto control and it doesn’t work either, so it’s definitely an error inside of Cubase.

It doesn’t work for what exactly? Please describe exactly what you’re experiencing. I see you have 8 knobs assigned to FQCs. So far, so good, with a question mark concerning the CC messages and the types assigned. Still, not an issue for now. So, you turn a knob, say knob 5, which is assigned to Band 4 Frequency of the proQ4 (at least so I see in your screenshots) and the frequency doesn’t respond? Is this the issue? From what I see (again from your screenshot) the Fabfilter is not focused.

@m.c The issue is none of the 8 quick control assignments I have on either my komplete Kontrol or roto control don’t work, meaning when I turn the dial, nothing happens. This happens for inserts that are in focus and vst’s that are in focus. But as you can see, I have set up the quick controls with each insert/plugin and I have mapped the focused quick controls for both controllers. I’ve done this so many times in the past and it always works so I’m not sure what’s going on here.

Could you please post a screenshot of your remote when you have a plugin in focus? Just to be clear, I need to see the MIDI Remote surface NOT in edit mode.

Is this the midi remote surface image you were looking for?

@m.c Also, I am literally removing old midi controllers from the MIDI remote/user settings folder on mac finder, as well as on the interface of Cubase, and every time I start it up again, it shows all of my old midi controllers and also multiple repeats of one controller. Then I look in the folder in finder and they have re-appeared. What the heck is going on here?

@m.c Sorry for the double-taps here. But I configured the Komplete Kontrol once again and now everything works. Let’s see if that lasts when I restart my computer lol

I had another question, though. None of the quick controls work for inserts even when they are in focus, ie Pro q4. What could be the cause since the quick controls work for VST’s but not for inserts? I have the midi map for komplete kontrol set to focused quick controls.

Check for the option you’ve selected under “Quick Control Focus Setup” in the MIDI Remote window. You should have both track and plugin focus.

@esimone00 Out of curiosity, why are you not using the extended channel and plugin control that was introduced in firmware v2.0 for S-Series MK3?

@m.c ok I am getting so frustrated here. Yet again, I simply restarted my computer and my entire midi mapping of Komplete Kontrol is gone. So let me start with the basics. How do I properly save a midi map of a midi controller? I see .js files in the MIDI remote/Driver scripts/local folder on my mac finder, but inside Cubase, all the assigned macros are wiped out on the MIDI remote tab on my kk surface.
