Having an issue.. using my MPC XL which has usb c audio and midi and setting up a template and trying get my mono drum tracks into a folder group.. doing so sets the group track to stereo which I cannot route the MPC individual mono channels.. using control room .. so basically what im doing since I have 24 tracks out from my mpc im setting us 12 mono usb c audio and 6 stereo.. recording into my MPC and cubase for additional vst instruments.. what im missing sorry for the noob question
I might be missing something, but dont you need to create mono audio tracks and select the mpc mononchannels as their sources? Those mono audio tracks could then be placed in the folder?
The tracks should retain their mono or stereo configuration while routed through a folder group track. Can you explain in more detail of how the tracks are functioning before and after ? what exactly changes ? and what is the desired result ?
I’m trying to understand what the actual issue is.
Right click on the Folder Group Track > Track Control Settings. Make sure that the “Channel Configuration” is in the “Visible Controls” list, click Apply / OK. This should allow you to change the configuration from stereo to mono and vice versa on the track. Does this fix the issue ?
This is the icon that should show up on the track once you follow the steps above, which will allow you to change the track channel configuration from stereo to mono and vice versa.
On the MPC XL the onbaord audio card usb c routes audio and midi.. when setting up you need to configure the path.. such as kick, USB c 1, snare , USB c 2. Ect.. also you need to create and audio in track to monitor but I missed a step when setting up a template on the mpc.. so it was on my end..
However that being said I dont think stereo / mono configuration works at all.. when I toggle mono i should have a single led signal to indicate mono.. it doesn’t change.. doing this realtime tracking.. however my inputs channels are mono…
For what im doing at the moment is working.. I need to test the update on my primary audio interface because im noticing higher than normal latency.. but I have done win 11 updates and need to check my setting and windows configuration see if anything changed since updating.. but routing is working
Are the samples on the MPC XL mono or stereo ? Because if they are stereo, changing the Cubase track channel configuration to mono will have no effect. The only difference is that stereo VST plugins can not be used on a mono track. The actual source material needs to be mono.
In Cubase you can process stereo audio files by either “mono downmix” or “mono split channels”.
If the MPC XL does not have any mono downmix or mono split channel functionality in it’s onboard settings than I presume that you have to figure out a way to load mono samples into it.
