Can you change the font of say, the ‘8’, in an octava indication?
In Library > Music Symbols > Ottava.
But as you can see, the 8va symbol is a single object. If you change the 8 on its own (another symbol), then you need to avoid using parentheses in the continuation appearance — otherwise it’s better to create a line instead.
With apologies for the long delay before I’ve been able to find the time to look at this, I can now tell you what’s going on here. The problem is that the processor that draws octave lines makes an assumption that it will be able to draw the sequence of characters that make up the label at the start of the line using a single font style as a single string. It therefore disregards the scale factor defined in the Music Symbols editor and uses the font style size instead. It would be quite involved…
Due to specific requirements in the publisher’s house style, I need to use plain text ‘8’ for ottava lines. This required changing the symbols in Engrave > Library > Music Symbols.
While that works well, continuation lines with parentheses give this:

I may try to change the glyphs for the parentheses too, but will that solve the offset issue? One cannot set ottava lines to not ‘avoid collisions’ so the only way out I see for now is to not use parentheses…
