For Dorico Pro 5 users using VSL Epic Orchestra library

Hi,
I’m creating maps for the Bass Drum that comes with the Epic Orchestra library.
Running into challenges so hoping someone can help out solving this.
The Bass Drum seems to require an Expression and Percussion map.
Here are screenshots of what I’ve accomplished so far:

Here’s the sample project

Any help/suggestions from those that are using this library would be greatly appreciated.

No reply yet? Have you asked VSL? They create templates for Dorico so would presumably help.

For unpitched percussion in general, avoid using XP maps. They can do basic things like enabling crossfades for free cresc/dim. For the curated ones, and for flams, drags, ruffs etc., I created playback techniques, which are mapped in the instrument’s percussion map. It is a faff, and it is inelegant, but it works.

The Playback technique short apparently is taken by Dorico to mean something specific. If you make a new playback technique, and call it e.g. short1 AND link it with the Playing Tech. short RS (shortrs) AND change the Percussion map for midi note C#5 to Tremolo + short1 it will work.

Ok I’ll try that. Thank you.
Is there a way to know when one of the playback techs that come with Dorico are “assigned” to a particular behavior, like what you said about short? I know e.g., that tremolo is assigned to recognize the 3 stroke rep.

Thanks for your reply. I have some similar playback techniques I’ve also created. I’ve been playing around with the symbols. Actually I like the ones you show here. Would you mind if I adopt them? They look much cleaner than mine.

There is nothing I can do to stop you
but seriously, be my guest

Yes that’s true and still, I like to ask. Thank you.
I wish and hope Dorico dev. Team will come up with a way for us to organize all the playing techniques in a way it makes sense to us, in the near future.
