I have looked at the related topics and tried the solutions there but I cannot seem to get this to work.
In the attached picture, you will see three eighth rests in a row in the vocal bass line. I want the last two eighth rests to be a single quarter rest. I have tried forced duration but it always returns what you see in the picture.
Thanks,
Bryce
Could you upload a project with just these two bars in it?
OK. I copied this measure to another location. When I did that, it had a quarter rest in the correct place.
I then deleted the entire (corrupted?) measure, added in a blank measure in its place, then pasted in the correct music.
Is it possible for a measure to be corrupted like this? If so, how?
Before I deleted the entire measure, I just deleted the notes. When I did that it had the three eighth rests at the end. It’s like it had a set of rhythms that could only appear in that measure.
Daniel,
Sorry I didn’t see your response until I had already found a work around. The faulty measure has been deleted.
If you have a backup copy containing the old bar, we would be keen to have a look.
In a situation where one or more rests have been created with Force Duration active, it should be possible to return to the default option by selecting the rests and pressing Delete. In the example you gave, you would probably need to delete both eighth rests in the 4th beat. The result should be one quarter rest.

All my back-ups contain the measure after I found a workaround.
I agree. And I tried that. That is what was so weird. There had to have been some sort of corruption in the measure. I wish one of my backups had the old (bad) measure in it so others could examine it.
