Hi! How do I force a single part to display it’s full name for only a single system? I know you can go through the layout options to force a staff to display it’s full name for all systems, but not just for one system.

How did you get that to show up? I can’t find it in my properties panel. I’m using Dorico Pro 6.2 in case that helps.
Select the system break in Engrave.
Ah, I figured out what you mean. So how do I make it so that only one staff shows the full staff label?
Sorry, I don’t understand the question.
Put another system break at the start of the next system (where you don’t want the lane showing), select the system break, and do the same Properties adjustment but with “No label” selected. When you change a property it carry’s through to the end of the flow unless it is changed again.
Change it once to show, then change is again not to show.
Thank you for your help, but my question is still unanswered. I have multiple instruments in a single system. I want only one of the instruments to display it’s full name. I do not want the other instruments to display their names at all in any way. I have many systems in my piece, but I want the situation I just described with respect to the names to only be true of a single system. How do I accomplish this?

Like the people who actually replied to your question I took your original post to refer to, well, a single part layout. How should anyone have guessed that you meant a layout with multiple instruments in the same system?
I doubt what you want is possible without using staff text, but in order to get the best answers, could you give us some more details about your setup? Is this a score layout or a part layout? Is it one player holding multiple instruments with their staves visible at the same time, or are there multiple players involved? Could you share a screenshot of what you want to achieve?
Thank you for your reply. I intended “a single part” in the sense of “only one of the parts”, and I can see where the confusion came about. My apologies. I am new here.
I’ve been asked to recreate a score which contains a system which looks like this:
As you can see, this is a full score, not a part score. The soprano has her full name on display while the organ does not. This is only the case for this system, which is not the first system of the movement. Prior to this system, the soprano’s staff was hidden. As one would assume (I believe), she is the only instrument assigned to her player. All players in this piece have only one instrument.
I hope this is enough information. Please let me know if more would be helpful. Thank you again.
The easiest way is probably just to position some Text.
(Assuming that the organ part has a full name that you don’t want to show.)
Alternatively, I might show the empty staves, if it’s only for a couple of systems.
PS. Don’t forget the lyric extension lines. It looks naked without them!
I tried to use a text frame, but it would not move left of the musical frame. Do you know how to move it beyond that?
Responding to your post script: I completely agree, but I am bound to my boss’ and his boss’ desires on this project.
Are you generally trying to avoid having any staff labels at all after the first system, except for the soprano in this one?
Here I entered “Soprano” as the abbreviated name for the soprano, and a space for the piano. Then I set “Staff labels in subsequent systems” to None and I asked for abbreviated staff labels for this system with a system break.
But it’s maybe not what you want.
Try staff text, rather than a text frame – it can be positioned (in Engrave mode) outside of the music frame (and outside of the page margins, in fact).
I think there are also ways to accomplish this by changing some of the instrument names, in conjunction with the earlier suggestion to force names for a particular system, but it may be more work than just adding text to this system. Edit: Ninja’d by @charles_piano!
