Forcing tied notes

I’m trying to tie the two 8th notes in the middle of the bar.

I highlight the force duration key

and press T and the two notes become a quarter note. How can I avoid this?

Only select the first B, press o, t. Done.
You might want to change your Notation options so that the half bar always is visible, even with this kind of syncope.

But changing the Notation options did fix both!
