I am writing a bi lingual song ( English / French), and, since I can’t seem to get a singer to show up, I’m using omni vocal. At least she pays attention.. I discovered that bug, where omni vocal will not read the words off a score lead sheet, so I am loading in the words in, key and score edit. But I discovered I can add in the words in the text box phonetically, and that will not change the lyrics on the lead sheet, so I can get the French pronunciation passable enough to work with omni vocal. A Cajun would say drole, and a Parisan would say merdi, but it is enough for now…
Anybody else trying to do non English with Omni vocal?
Can you share your preset for “frenchy” language ?
This is not actually a bug. It’s just the current design. All text for OmniVocal must be entered through the text item of a midi note event (as you discovered). The lyrics in the sheet are independent of this.
Let’s hope that’ll change in the future.
It’s really useful to have the two word displays independent like this. I didn’t like having to re- enter lyrics from C12 created lead sheets, and I have a bunch of them, but this is definitely a help for non English lyrics, or Cajun music, to get omni vocal to say them right… . Maybe an on / off switch for it?
The way I’m doing it is to open a French translation program, read the phonetic pronunciation of the word /phrase, then type that into the “text” field at the top of the window.. Some times I have to enter (Ay) for A or (ah) for a / e, to get it right. For instance, the French pronounced word “Ensemble” is ah-̃s-ahnb, so I had to reduce it to ah sahnb.

BTW, I need to figure out how to make those "B#"s to be "C"s…
The naming convention of the notes usually follows the settings of the Chord Track. If you have a scale or chord there that uses a B# instead of a C it will be displayed as such.
The B# is showing up in the Keys / piano roll window - you can see it in the screen shot. The song is in C so it should default to C instead of B#.. I am sure there is a way to correct that…
