The default automation lane is always channel volume. But I use CC1 (modulation) vastly more frequently, maybe some others also want different CC as default? This is mostly about instrument (and perhaps MIDI) tracks. I currently have to dig up the CC1 from the CC menus by clicking on the default “volume”. I don’t always have a MIDI controller at hand in order to trigger CC1 for easy manual editing.
I’d be surprised if this feature already exists, I was unable to find it.
