I notate 7-string electric guitar compositions using a ‘compound’ grand staff, and I’d love for Dorico to provide this option where it’s really treated as a single staff and the music flows freely across both the treble/bass portions based on pitch.
The workarounds provided in this thread are great (thanks!) but they have obvious drawbacks because the layout options affect other players in the score.
It may also address the issue flagged in this thread: 8-String Guitar / Grand Staff Guitar + Tab where you can’t have tablature for a grand staff instrument because Dorico sees it as two staves. Perhaps if this were added as a special ‘single’ stave (granted, a very niche/unusual one), it would address the issue of staff + tab?
