I’d like to request additional Engraving Options for grace notes and cue-sized notes to use an alternative set of noteheads and a stem thickness independent of that used for regular notes.
In traditional plate engraving, grace notes and fioriture often used slightly narrower, more rounded noteheads. Some publishers even distinguished between single grace notes and groups of grace notes: a single grace note would often retain the regular, wider notehead.
Because the stems of grace notes and cue-sized notes are scaled down proportionally, they can become too thin when the general stem thickness is set to a lower value. A separate thickness setting would make it possible to compensate for this.
I’ve attached examples from Boosey & Hawkes, Henle, Schott, and Ricordi.
This is a request for native support. I’m aware that this style can already be achieved manually in Dorico.
