FR: Set Apply button state when text field changes

For the dialogs with Apply and Close buttons (like Layout Options, etc.):

If I make a change to a checkbox or multiple choice field, the Apply button gets enabled right away. But if I make a change to a text/numeric field by typing in it, the Apply button doesn’t get enabled until the field loses focus.

It would be nice if typing into a text/numeric field enabled the Apply button right away, so that I could apply my change without having to select another field.

Yes, you’re not the first person to request this, but it’s not straightforward to achieve.
