In big band writing, I find the eye is more quickly drawn to the section of instruments when the label appears on the top staff instead of centered in the in group. This is how a lot of big band manuscript paper was always set up, like this example from Judy Green:
This can be done in Dorico using a non-breaking space so names aren’t identical, but it would be a useful option to have a setting to have the group labels default to top instead of center. (Obviously something like Reeds would still need to be done manually.) Thanks for considering!
